It is impossible to visit the Val di Fassa without immersing yourself in the culture of the Ladins of the Dolomites, a linguistic minority located around the Sella Group, in the valleys of Fassa, Gardena, Badia, Livinallongo and Ampezzo.
There are about 40,000 speakers of this ancient Dolomite language, whose origin is still uncertain, but whose history and tradition are still very much alive in our valley.
You will find evidence of Ladin culture in churches, chapels, museums, exhibitions, ancient villages, characteristic districts with stately homes decorated with frescoes, and even fountains.
Follow the traces of the past in the Fassa Ladin Museum with its themed sections, as well as in the exhibitions dedicated to the First World War, the art galleries and the mineral exhibitions.
You will discover the meaning of barantl (mugo pine), roa (landslide), crëp (mountain) and dascia (ravine), but above all, the legends, peasant traditions, customs and traditions of one of the most unique valleys in the Alpine area.
